London’s West End is home to the largest Chinese New Year celebration outside of Asia.
The Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, falls between late January and mid-February.
2024 marks the Year of the Wood Dragon, which is the 5th animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs. The Dragon symbolises power, endless energy, romance, and leadership.
Organised by the London Chinatown Chinese Association (LCCA), the celebrations span from 10th to the 11th of February. Hundreds of thousands of people flock to the West End to revel in a vibrant parade, free stage performances, and delicious traditional Chinese cuisine.
Watch colourful floats and over 50 teams partake in the lively Chinese New Year parade, showcasing Europe's largest gathering of Chinese lions and dragons.
Don't forget to learn phrases like "Xin Nian Kuai Le" (Happy New Year in Mandarin) or "Sun Nin Faai Lok" (in Cantonese) and join in the festivities.
