Shah Rukh Khan unveils new statue in Leicester Square

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), one of Indian cinema’s most iconic love stories, the King of Indian cinema Shah Rukh Khan has unveiled a brand-new bronze statue — now part of the Scenes in the Square trail in London’s Leicester Square.

First-ever Indian Film statue joins Leicester Square’s iconic trail

The statue is the first-ever tribute to an Indian film in Leicester Square, officially joining the beloved Scenes in the Square trail alongside icons like Harry Potter, Batman, and Mary Poppins.

Directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films, DDLJ changed the game for Indian cinema. Loved across the world, its impact has lasted for generations.

Now, 30 years after filming a key scene right here in Leicester Square, Shah Rukh Khan has returned to unveil a bronze statue of Raj and Simran. The sculpture captures the unforgettable chemistry between Khan and Kajol in a pose fans instantly recognise – a timeless symbol of love and cinematic history.
