BAFTAs 2024: Oppenheimer Takes Home Seven Awards
The 77th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) honoured the best in cinema from 2023 last night.

Hosted by David Tennant, with performances by Nick Mohammed and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, known for her hit 'Murder on the Dancefloor' featured in the acclaimed 2023 film, Saltburn.
Oppenheimer swept the show with an impressive seven wins, including victories for Best Cinematography and Best Editing. Plus Emma Stone also won Best Leading Actress, for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things.
Oppenheimer Wins
Oppenheimer stole the spotlight winning seven awards at the annual film celebration.
One of the most talked-about films of 2023, Oppenheimer dives into the story of Robert J. Oppenheimer, the so-called ‘father of the atomic bomb’, with Cillian Murphy in the title role.
At the BAFTAs, history was made as Cillian Murphy became the first Irish-born actor to win Best Actor in a Leading Role. Robert Downey Jr also won Best Supporting Actor 31 years after his last award win, and acclaimed director Christopher Nolan took the Best Director trophy.
Oppenheimer also won Best Film, Best Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography.
Poor Things Win Big
Emma Stone won the Best Actress award for her performance in Poor Things as Bella Baxter.
The film is an off-beat comedy telling the story of Bella Baxter who gets a second shot at life thanks to an eccentric scientist. The film won a total of five categories including Best Costume and Special Visual Effects.
Other Wins
The Zone of Interest won in three categories, including Best British Film and The Holdovers secured two wins, including Best Supporting Actress by Da’vine Joy Randolph.

The EE BAFTA awards 2024 celebrated the best of the best in film, showcasing memorable films which premiered in London's Leicester Square including the big winner of the night, Oppenheimer.
