This August, Leicester Square bursts to life with Inside Out. A free, family-friendly festival packed with creativity, culture and live entertainment in the heart of London’s West End. Taking place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August, the festival offers a full weekend of activities for all ages.
From theatre and film-themed workshops to crafts, face painting and live performances inspired by your favourite characters and stories.
Enjoy wand combat sessions with Harry Potter choreographer Paul Harris, surprise West End cast appearances, interactive games, larger-than-life characters and so much more.
On Saturday evening, teens and older visitors can experience the Square after dark with a Silent Disco featuring iconic film soundtracks and musical hits. Then on Sunday, it’s all about the kids. With a full day of hands-on fun, storytelling and creativity.
Plus, enjoy delicious kids’ dining offers, explore Kids Week, and grab free kids’ theatre tickets across London’s West End.

In the heart of entertainment relive your favourite movie and musical moments amongst the theatres of the West End in a Leicester Square first as we host a Silent Disco like no other!
- 19:00 - 20:45 - Silent Disco: music celebrating the magic of movies and musicals
Tickets are required on entry and can be booked here. Please note, this event is 16+.
Sunday 10th August
Family fun day for all ages to enjoy the magic of West End and film. Expect craft sessions, face painting, interactive games and larger-than-life characters as part of our jampacked schedule.
Performances/Workshops include:
- 11:30 - 11:50 - Wand Combat with Harry Potter Wand Choreographer, Paul Harris (recommended audience age 7+)
- 12:30 - 12:45 - A live medley performance of a joyful tale of star-crossed aliens in The Smeds and the Smoos (recommended audience age 3+)
- 13:00-13:30 - A workshop celebrating the best of Barmy Britain with the Horrible Histories Live gang (recommended audience age 5+)
- 13:45 -14:05 - Wand Combat with Harry Potter Wand Choreographer, Paul Harris (recommended audience age 7+)
- 15:30 -15:50 - Story time with the cast from Olivier Award nominated The Tiger Who Came to Tea (recommended audience ages 3+)
- 16:15 - 16:45 - Wand Combat with Harry Potter Wand Choreographer, Paul Harris (recommended audience age 7+)
Families can also explore Scenes in the Square, the West End’s famous movie statue trail celebrating its fifth anniversary. Featuring icons like Harry Potter, Paddington, Mary Poppins,and the newest addition: Daniel Kaluuya as Chris Washington from Get Out.
Inside Out Festival is presented by Discover Leicester Square in partnership with Westminster City Council as part of their free summer arts programme.

Kids Week
Visit the Official London Theatre Ticket Booth in Leicester Square to take advantage of free theatre tickets for children.
One child aged 17 or under can attend for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. Plus up to two more children can attend for half price.
Performances are available throughout the summer holidays and select shows are also offering tickets for September dates.

Leicester square has been home to a number of historical figures. Statues of William Hogarth, Sir Joshua Reynolds, John Hunter and Sir Isaac Newton have all featured in the gardens, which at the centre, permanently showcases William Shakespeare.
