What's OnThe Little Mermaid Premiere in London's Leicester Square!

The event was attended by the talented cast and filmmakers, who gathered on the vibrant blue carpet to celebrate the film's highly anticipated release.

Among the esteemed attendees included were the film's stars, including Halle Bailey, known for her portrayal of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, Jonah Hauer-King from Little Women, Daveed Diggs, a prominent member of the original Broadway cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, the talented Jacob Tremblay, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy, Noma Dumezweni, and Art Malik.

Also present were the director/producer Rob Marshall, producers Marc Platt and John DeLuca, and composer Alan Menken, renowned for his remarkable songs in films by Walt Disney Animation Studios. Menken's compositions for The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pocahontas have each earned him two Academy Awards. Additionally, executive producer Jeffrey Silver and notable figures such as James Corden, Stanley Tucci, Guy Ritchie, Sir Tim Rice, Alexander Molony, and others graced the occasion.

"The Little Mermaid," tells the beloved tale of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with an insatiable desire for adventure. As the youngest daughter of King Triton and the most rebellious, Ariel yearns to explore the world beyond the sea. During a visit to the surface, she falls in love with the captivating Prince Eric. However, as mermaids are forbidden from interacting with humans, Ariel must follow her heart and strikes a perilous deal with the wicked sea witch, Ursula. This pact offers her a chance to experience life on land but jeopardises both her own life and her father's kingdom.

Directed by Oscar nominee Rob Marshall ("Chicago," "Mary Poppins Returns") and written by two-time Oscar nominee David Magee ("Life of Pi," "Finding Neverland"), "The Little Mermaid" showcases enchanting music composed by multiple Academy Award winner Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman, as well as new lyrics by three-time Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda ("Hamilton," "In the Heights").

Bringing their musical credentials to the big screens, the film is produced by a talented team of individuals. This includes Marc Platt ("Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert," "Grease Live!"), Lin-Manuel Miranda, two-time Emmy winner John DeLuca ("Tony Bennett: An American Classic"), and Rob Marshall, with Jeffrey Silver ("The Lion King") serving as executive producer.

"The Little Mermaid" will make its exclusive debut in cinemas on May 26th, 2023, and will be available on Disney+ later this year.
